Mabel's portraits, by gila herman

I am so lucky because a woman from playgroup has a husband who is an amazing photographer and considering starting a business. He offered to take some pictures for free. They came out great!

Strolling

,

So John & I just got back from our first night away from Mabel

Notice how relaxed we look in this picture. Anyhow, Mabel stayed in Augusta with Grandmommy and Grandaddy. Grandmommy bought her this little cart thing which she just loves pushing around. Since we have a strict deadline for her to start walking, we decided we just had to take it back to Atlanta with us.

See how much fun Mabel is having!

Cruising

Fun in the sun

Finally!

Okay, it's more of an army crawl than a baby crawl, and she's not terribly efficient at it, but I think this actually counts.

The Beatles

And I forgot to mention. She is becoming quite the Beatles fan. Her favorite song is "Two of Us."

Drinking Water

Um, I goofed and kept recording by mistake, so just ignore the part where it goes black. Mabel still refuses to drink from a sippy cup, but her regular drinking skills still need a little work.

Chocolate!

Help! Mabel is so white!

Mabel started dancing about a month ago. At first, she would only dance to this country banjo music. Notice how she stops at the jazz. Luckily, she has since expanded her repertoire.

And . . .

She said her first word!

Dog.

She said it 3 times on Tuesday. At first, I wasn't totally sure, but by the third time I knew it was for real. Then, all day yesterday I was waiting to hear it again. In the morning, she looked at our neighbor's dog and said "mama." I was beginning to doubt again, but she finally said it yesterday evening too.
