Mabelisms

Well, I've been meaning to do this one for a while, but it's better late than never. Here is what will now be my ongoing list of funny things Mabel says:

"Yes" She really doesn't do this as much any more, but for a while, any time she was explaining something, she would finish it with an emphatic nod and say "yes."

Because. Everything is because. And whenever you as why, she has the same response "because I am" (or it is, we are, etc). And of course there is "because no."

Chillax. I have no idea where she got that from.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Not yet, not yet, not yet, not yet. (Ms Particular)

cereal barro

djou, djours, etc. - at 3 years of age, Mabel has suddenly started talking with a Cuban accent.

zuse (use)

paper putter- after some investigative work on my part, I realized Mabel was referring to the cinnamon roll we had at Ikea this morning, which was in a paper holder, much like a cupcake

Mommy: What's your favorite food in the world?

Mabel: Marmelade tofu

Mabel: (shaking head) Where did you get that idea?

"This is an often book. It has more oftens." (Referring to the book, Read to your bunny often)

headache (headband)

I thought I had finally figured out Mabel's definition of "big girl" versus "little girl" when she referred to herself and everyone else her same age or older as a "big girl" except the girls that are shorter than her like Anya and Nora. Then she through me for a loop when she referred to all the boys as "big boys" except for Emmett who apparently is a "little boy" in spite of the fact he is about a foot taller than her. Of course I was unable to discern why this is because when I asked her, she replied "because he is."

pink hand poo (the udder of cow - now she knows it's an udder, so if I say hand poo, she laughs and says no it's an udder the baby drinks milk out of)

Mabel: Is that Meemaw's new car?

Mommy: It's not new anymore.

Mabel: Oh, was it new before?

Mommy: How old were you before you turned 3?

Mabel: 16

Mommy: We're going to visit meemaw and Walter. They're both sick, can we make them feel better?

Mabel: Yes, we can make them feel better with food.

Mabel woke up from her nap today and said: "Hey, nobody came in. The witch didn't come because she's pretend.

"It's not a nake patzen it's a bootie butt"

"Pay a pension!"

"No thank you! No thank you! No thank you!" (during a temper tantrum instead of no, no, no no!)

Mabel: Daddy works in the big, big building that we taked him to

Mommy: Yes. Are you going to work in a big big building when you grow up?

Mabel: No silly. I'm going to be a mommy

(Teenage feminist Gila would be appalled at this 1950s housewife example I am setting for my daughter)

"They make my eyes weird" (while wearing my glasses).

"Is it tomorrow?"

"Bye, bye. I'm going now" while walking toward the door.

"Where are you going?"

"I'm going shopping for a new baby."

Mommy: "What are you going to be when you grow up?"

Mabel: "A nurse Gila mommy."

Mommy: "What am I going to be?"

Mabel "A meemaw."

"Daddy doesn't know how to clear his plate yet. He's not big enough."

Mabel: "Can you say, I love you Mabel?"

Mommy: "I love you Mabel"

Mabel: "I love you too sweetheart."

"My mommy can't have a dog, she's a nurse" (somehow she has gotten nurse and allergic confused)

Mommy: "Who's that"

Mabel: "Santa! That's brown Santa. We already saw white Santa a long time ago."

poshman (potion)

handitizer (hand sanitizer)

flingers (fingers) as in "Mommy, I'm not sucking my flingers!"

"I was just teasing" - that's all you say these days, over and over = I realized what I said was wrong

"I know that" - that's the only other thing you say these days = What I said is true

"that doesn't make any sense"

"that's not fair," - I think it shows that Mabel has a 12 year old sister.

"My hands made me do that, my hands are so mean" - this one almost made me worry Mabel had some kind of dissociative disorder. She is always using this as her excuse for bad behaviors, my hands made me do that, my body made me do that. She did quickly snap our of it, however, when I threatened to give her hands a time out.

Mommy "Do you want to help people or do you want to make a lot of money"

Mabel: " I want to make a lot of money"

This during a conversation about whether she wants to work downtown in the big buildings and be a computer programmer or be a nurse like mommy. She always says a computer programmer. Smart girl.

*Note: She now answers "both" to the same question. Very smart girl.

"None." Mabel's favorite new word. Stated for emphasis - very firmly as in: "I like it none. This much (making a circle with her fingers). That's zero."

"I love to help Mommy!" (My personal favorite)

"G-d told me in my head" (This when we were talking about what movie to watch.)

Her latest is "jokes." She thinks any joke is funny and she will always laugh at the punchline. She also loves to make up her own jokes. Her latest is reading from her Baby Mickey Word Book and using all the wrong words. This is just hilarious to her.

Extracize

Mabel now talks a little like a 1930s housewife, for example: "Gosh, I certainly...

"Regliar" (regular)

Mabel: " Amelia's going to be 4 in 3 months.
Mommy: "No, in 3 days."
Mabel: That's what I said. 3 months ago amelia had a birthday party.

Africots

"What was that noise? Are they painting our house? Gila is painting our house. Another Gila. Gila Bubbles Sherman."

Happy Mother's Day Mom

Thank goodness for Living Social! If it wasn't for them, I maybe wouldn't have thought to actually send my mom flowers for mother's day this year - something I don't think I've done before. It was amazing how such a simple gesture seems to have made my mom so happy. I really wanted to do this for her, because she is having a particularly rough time this year.  She has thanked me about a bazillion times and even sent me this picture of them after they opened up. Well worth the money spent. If that's all I have to do to make you feel a little better and know how much I appreciate you, I should do it every day. I love you mom!

I wish every day was mother's day

Rudi

Last weekend we took Rudi, Mabel's class guinea pig, home for the weekend. I was a little nervous at first due to my history of allergies to furry things, and general lack of adoration for animals. It proved to be quite a success though. I knew it was worth the hassle when I cooked dinner uninterrupted while Mabel amused herself with Rudi.

This was  little game we invented to create a Rudi ring. Even Noah enjoyed it!

Endless ideas for amusement

The Big 3

We had this awesome party with Mabel's friends, cupcakes and pizza. Of course I yet again neglected to take pictures - thank you Mary for your awesome shots! We're going to miss Anya.

And then there was Mabel's actual birthday morning filled with birthday cheer!
