Saturday morning was the worst morning yet. I decided to clip Mabel's fingernails which was probably not a great idea, considering it was about 7 in the morning and I had gotten very little sleep the night before. The first couple of fingers went fine, so perhaps I was being a little overly confident, when suddenly Mabel let out a bloodcurdling cry. I had taken a chunk of her skin instead of her nail. It's always hard hearing her cry, but hearing that kind of cry and knowing I was the one who caused it was agonizing. I scrambled to find some band-aids, but they were all too big. John made some silly joke - poking fun at me for injuring our daughter, and I burst into tears, yelling at him for implying I was not a good a mother. Anyway, I eventually calmed down and John fashioned this teeny band-aid with a pair of scissors. Mabel is recovering nicely.
